Global Equity Markets by Region
By Ralph Goldsticker | 8 August 2018
Due to outperformance of the stock market and the appreciation of the dollar, the US is now more than 50% of the global equity market (as represented by the MSCI ACWI Index). That said, non-US markets still comprise almost 50%, of which emerging markets are 11%. Even if emerging markets perform inline with developed, we expect their proportion of the total market to grow as they continue the process of opening their stock markets to global investors. Inclusion of Chinese A Shares, stocks only recently made available to foreign investors, is the latest example.
