Senior Investment Consultant

We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Investment Consultant to join our team. Alan Biller and Associates has been growing at 18+ percent per year—all through referrals—and offers one of the lowest consultant-to-client ratios in the business. Our consultants pride themselves on consistently exceeding our clients’ expectations and delivering the best academic thinking tempered with sound judgment.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the face of the firm for your clients and the service providers, money managers, and custodian bankers that work with them
  • Act as the key facilitator among all parties involved in any investment-related issue
  • Develop and nurture strong relationships with the trustees, money managers, attorneys, administrators, and other decision makers for each account, and keep them informed about their portfolios and other related issues

Requirements:

  • MBA and CFA designation
  • Minimum of 8 years of related experience
  • Solid interpersonal communication skills
  • Able to write and speak clearly and effectively on technical investment subjects to a nontechnical audience
  • Ability to deliver compelling presentations and comfortable using a laptop in presentations
  • Strong quantitative abilities
  • Proactive and extremely well organized
  • Confident, motivated, and results oriented
  • Bright, energetic, high integrity, and a strong work ethic—must be a team player
  • Capable of leading and maintaining multiple demanding client relationships
  • Solid business acumen; comfortable relating to a wide range of client contacts

Managing Senior Research Analyst

We are seeking an experienced Managing Senior Research Analyst to provide portfolio analysis, asset allocation, and to develop innovative strategies for large Defined Benefit Plans. The focus of these portfolios is on equities, fixed income securities, hedge funds, private equity, infrastructure, and other alternative assets. In this role you will also be responsible for managing seven Research Analysts and leading various functional initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead in-depth due diligence (operational, legal, and investment) on alternative investment managers including: hedge funds, private equity, infrastructure, natural resources, commodities, mezzanine debt, and venture capital
  • Coordinate the Research Group's efforts to meet client schedules, interview investment managers, and allocate necessary resources
  • Assist with structuring institutional portfolios which range in size from $2 - $40 billion and write technically accurate investment policy statements
  • Conduct investment manager searches for alternative assets including hedge funds, private equity, infrastructure, natural resources, commodities, mezzanine debt, and venture capital. Perform in-depth legal review and negotiate manager contracts
  • Develop RFPs, conduct on-site manager due diligence, and coordinate manager finalist presentations to clients
  • Perform quantitative portfolio analysis focusing on risk assessment and management, construct and maintain asset liability and risk budgeting models, and develop capital market assumptions and asset allocation models

Requirements:

  • 5+ years relative investment experience and demonstrated management responsibilities
  • MS in Finance or MBA
  • CFA, CAIA, FRM, or other equivalent industry credentials
  • Series 65
  • Proficiency with: MATLAB, VBA, SQL, MDX, C#, and appropriate third party industry software including MPI Stylus, eVestment Alliance, and Morningstar
  • Demonstrated success with client presentations
